Questions
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about how we work, what we test, and how we help operators manage water.
Does Fluid Intelligence sell chemicals or equipment?
No. We are independent. By choosing not to sell chemicals or equipment, we eliminate any potential bias from our recommendations, which are based only on knowledge and data.
How is produced water treated for reuse?
We characterize the water on-site and in the lab to define the storage and reuse challenge, measure the variance against treatment specifications, evaluate fit-for-purpose treatment technologies, and support field execution with process controls. Applications include reuse in hydraulic fracturing and EOR waterflooding.
What does AER Directive 055 require for produced water storage?
Among other obligations, stored fluids must be characterized by a chemical professional to identify contaminants of concern, records of constituents must be kept current, operational controls must prevent microbial growth, and water must be treated before storage — removing solids, H₂S, and hydrocarbons. We help operators meet these requirements.
What does your laboratory test?
Our Clairmont Analytical Laboratory offers Essential Water Analysis (anions, cations, pH, alkalinity, conductivity, density, and total suspended solids), oil & grease (ASTM D8193), metals, bacteria (ATP and 16s sequencing), biocide kill studies, and dynamic scale loop testing — all built for brine samples with fast turnaround.
Where are you located and what areas do you serve?
We are based in Clairmont, Alberta, with sample kit pickup and drop-off in Grande Prairie, and we serve operators across Western Canada including Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
Do you offer technical training?
Yes. We provide customized technical training for field operations and production engineers, covering water chemistry fundamentals, inorganic scale, corrosion, and bacteria mitigation. Courses are tailored to your team and the depth of content you need.
How do I get pricing or schedule services?
Contact us by phone at 403.351.1026 or through our contact form. You will work directly with our technical team.
